The 7 Habits® – Habit 4 and Habit 5

Course Overview: 

Stephen Covey was the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, which has sold over 30 million copies in over 40 languages. It is one of the most significant business books of all time. Stephen. Covey’s lifelong mission was to “unleash human potential.” The 7 Habits® are the accumulated wisdom he synthesized into a comprehensive framework that allows you to be effective in your work and personal life.

In this Learning Path you will explore Habit 4: Think Win-Win® where you will learn to build mutually beneficial relationships and better long-term resolutions. In Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood®, you will learn to listen genuinely and empathetically which creates an atmosphere of caring, and positive problem solving.

The 7 Habits® - Habit 4 and Habit 5 is the third in a series of four Learning Paths based on the work of Stephen Covey that is available exclusively to Pennsylvania educators for Act 48 credit.

  • Explore how the public victory habits work together to increase effectiveness;
  • Investigate Habit 4 - Think Win-Win®;
  • Explore strategies practiced by highly effective people who embrace the principles of mutual benefit, fairness, and abundance;
  • Learn to clarify and manage expectations between people;
  • Consider Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood®;
  • Explore strategies practiced by highly effective people who seek to understand the viewpoints, minds, and hearts of others; and
  • Learn strategies to listen empathetically with the intent to understand.
