This Learning Path provides strategies and background knowledge to help paraprofessionals make the best use of small group and one-to-one instructional time. Several research-based strategies are explored through the Learning Path content, which is then applied in the classroom setting. Reading Strategies for Paraprofessionals covers theory, practice, and practical advice to improve children’s reading skills.
Learning Path Outcomes:
- Understand the two tasks of reading: word identification and reading comprehension;
- Engage students in appropriate reading activities with social and cognitive strategies;
- Practice ways to make the most out of one-to-one and small-group reading practice; and
- Identify important traits of the paraprofessional that have a positive impact on learning.
