1. NGSS – Introduction to the Three Dimensions of NGSS



The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are made up of three integrated parts. The Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs)teach the doing of science, the Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCEs) which are the science concepts, and the  Crosscutting Concepts CCCs) which are the large, overarching ideas that connect all learning to make it more meaningful for students. Learning about each of these three components will help teachers integrate them for more engaging and productive science lessons. This course will concentrate of the Science and Engineering Practices and the Crosscutting Concepts. There are grade specific courses for kindergarten through fifth grade teachers that will examine the science concepts in the disciplinary Core Ideas at an adult level.
